I am sitting in our smoke filled apartment typing away. Don’t worry; I haven’t taken up smoking, I just burned something real bad in the oven. Totally not my fault though.
I bought a Bundt pan a few weeks ago. I decided to break it out for my childhood favorite Sunday treat, pull aparts, a sticky but type treat. This Bundt pan is different than the one my mom had, in that the bottom and middle lift out. Apparently this is great for cakes, not great for pull aparts. I looked back at our oven and smoke was coming out at a rapid rate. Oh dear.
After furter inspection, the sauce in the recipe melts and goes right through the bottom of the pan which leads to a sugary puddle of burning, smoking goo in the bottom of the oven. Lovely. Pretty sure that is going to need to be cleaned at some point. Ugh.
I also am not sure how these gooey treats are going to taste after losing half their sauce (and I know this makes them lower-cal, but who wants low-cal treats?).
At least as I type the haze in our apartment is clearing out. I think the real question is though: how did our smoke alarms not go off at all during this mess? And should I be worried about that?
**They taste great still. And, since they are low-cal, I feel fine about eating half the pan.

I wish that I could magically transport myself to your kitchen and taste your delightful pull aparts a flambe :) PS Caleb said the other day "I like Bryson and Destiny...they gave me a birthday card." mind you this was several days after receiving it, so he has officially logged it away and knows all about the awesomeness of you two.
Sounds delicious!!! Kari and I met up yesterday on her way to Turkey and we talked so much about you, especially how we miss you so much!!! One of these days, we'll have a reunion with all of us!
